Why I Will Never Go Back To Regular Kids Bedding

If you have ever owned bunk beds you know what a HUGE PAIN they are to make. The bottom bunk isn’t too bad to make but the top… IMPOSSIBLE. I don’t know about you but making a bunk bed for me consisted of trying to balance on the bunk bed ladder, making the bed as best as I could (which wasn’t good at all) then crawling up on to the bed to tuck in the sheets and comforter and then trying to stealthily back off the bed, back onto the ladder, without disturbing the bedding (which I could never accomplish). There were always dents in the bedding where my knees sunk in and the sheets always pulled back up (*insert mad, crying, frustrated, and zig-zag mouthed unhappy emojis here). 100% of the time I would give up and back away, glaring at that stupid, haphazardly made top bunk. I know you know what I am talking about. Anyway, being the perfectionist I am, I couldn’t take not having a nicely made top bunk any longer… I needed a solution because I was at my wits end and I was about to just burn the bunk beds to the ground (believe me, it would have happened had I not found Beddy’s Zipper Bedding.. read on..)

The Solution

I went online searching for “bedding hacks” and “bunkbed bedding” and I came across Beddys.com. It took about 3 clicks and my sanity was on it’s way via UPS. When my Beddy’s bedding arrived on my doorstep I literally tore open the boxes right there and put them on the beds. That top bunk was made PERFECTLY in about 30 seconds (and guess what? My 3 year old could do it, too). In fact (no joke), my 3-year-old climbed in, zipped up, put on her sleeping mask and FELL ASLEEP. (see picture below– that is not a “hurry-and-pretend-you-are-sleeping-so-I-can-take-a-picture” sleep.. she is ACTUALLY sleeping!)

Beddys For Everyone

I am telling you I will never go back to traditional bedding. EVER. And not just with bunk beds.. I am talking ANY beds. These are perfect for EVERYONE including kids with special needs, adults with arthritis, people who hate making beds, and the perfectionist who wants a perfect bed made up in a matter of seconds. Seriously, any one, any age can zip up these beds and have a perfect looking bed every day.

Beddys For Every Bed

We have used our bedding in so many different ways. Currently we use ours on our loft beds, our Murphy bed, and a regular twin bed. Here’s a rundown of some of the beds that you can Beddy’s on (that will make your bed-making experience SO much easier):

Bunk bedsDay bedsTrundle bedsRV and camper bedsGuest bedsMurphy beds Loft bedsAir mattresses ALL. THE. BEDS.

Just a quick note about using these on Murphy beds: It is the BEST thing ever. We have a Murphy bed in our guest room and because everything is all in one piece, the bed folds up easily against the wall without the bedding slipping down. It just stays put! When guests come, we can just fold down the bed and it is already completely made. Okay, so I am getting ahead of myself. There’s so much to say about this bedding I don’t even know where to begin. It will probably be easiest if I just list it out for you:

What I love about my Beddy’s bedding:

1. It ZIPS

Obviously this is my favorite thing about the bedding. IT ZIPS UP. Like a sleeping bag but better (it’s bigger and softer.. and zips more easily). Obviously this is PERFECT when you are trying to make the bed in the morning. The zippers are a good size so even kids can grab the little tabs and zip it up with ease. This is also great for night time for restless sleepers (which all my kids are). My kids kick and squirm and roll all through the night and will wake up in the middle of the night freezing because they have kicked their covers onto the floor. This was like an added bonus when I got the bedding. I didn’t realize until I woke them up the next morning and found them still warmly tucked into bed! Awesome.

2. It’s All One Piece

No need for a fitted sheet, a top sheet, a soft blanket and a comforter. These sets are an all-in-one deal. This is great when making the bed because you don’t have to make each layer of the bed. Seriously you just zip it up and everything is in place. When it comes time to wash you just pull it off all in one piece and wash it. So easy! When it comes time to make the bed again, you just slide it onto the mattress and you’re done. No layers, no tucking. It’s heavenly!

3. It’s Adorable

I failed to mention that the bedding I had on my kids’ beds before was designer bedding. It was really expensive. It was soft, bulky, and fluffy, but I will be honest, it was not practical at. all. especially for bunk beds. When I was searching online I was looking for practical and was willing to give up on the “cute”… when I found the Beddy’s website I found that not only was the bedding far more practical.. it was CUTER, MUCH CUTER than the current bedding I had. I only wish I had found Beddy’s sooner (it would have saved me $$). See more styles HERE!

4. It’s Durable

Before I bought my designer bedding (the bedding I had right before Beddy’s), I had gone through 3 (YES, THREE) other sets of cheap-o bedding sets that pretty much all fell apart after one year due to them being dragged around the house. I spent like $50-$75 for each set and I was getting fed up with the poor quality which is why I finally went with designer bedding. I will admit, the quality of the designer bedding was FAR better than the previous sets and it was worth the money as far as durability was concerned… but it just wasn’t practical. The quality and durability of the Beddy’s bedding is just as good as the designer bedding AND it is practical. There is not as much “wear and tear” as with regular bedding because the Beddy’s bedding can’t be ripped off the bed and dragged around the house.

5. It’s A Great Deal (Especially with our Beddys Discount!)

Going along with number four, because you are getting a high quality, practical bedding that is CUTER than designer brands, the price tag really isn’t that big when you think about it. You won’t even be able to DIY this bedding for that price. As an added bonus, you don’t have to spend extra money on sheets, which saves you even more money. On, and did I mention we have a BIG Beddys discount for you?

Minky vs Cotton Lining: My Opinion

If you know anything about the Beddy’s bedding, you will know that you can either get the minky lining or the cotton lining. This will be the toughest decision you will make! For my kids, we use the minky lining all the way. My kids love the feel and it keeps them cozy and warm all night. For me, I like to sleep on the cool side. For my personal preference I like the cotton lining and then have the minky blanket as a top layer in case I get cold (like in the picture above). The blankets make for a gorgeous accessory to the bed set plus they are completely functional. I use my blanket all the time to snuggle up!

Frequently asked questions from our readers about Beddy’s:

How does Beddy’s work?

Beddy’s bedding is an all-in-one bedding set that zips together. It zips like a sleeping bag but fits over the entire bed like a fitted sheet. The comforter layer tucks in when zipped up and then if you want to wear it loose like a blanket, it expands out making it more snuggly.

Are Beddy’s comfortable?

YES! My kids LOVE the minky fabric on the inside. I know they have linen-lined ones too so it feels more like you are sleeping with a sheet but my kids prefer the minky. It is so soft. We have had our bedding for years and it has still not lost the softness. Some people have asked my if my kids are bothered by the zipper. With how it is made, the zipper kind of disappears under the minky fabric while they are sleeping so they have never complained about it.

How to make Beddy’s bedding

To make the bedding, you keep it all zipped up in one piece. Then you pull the bedding over the sides of the bed just like you would a fitted sheet. That’s it. No tucking necessary. You literally just pull it right over your mattress and when it’s bedtime, you just unzip and crawl in. My kids usually just unzip one side and keep the other size zipped so it’s easier to make in the morning.

How to wash Beddy’s bedding

To wash the bedding, you pull it off all in one piece then turn it inside-out and put it directly in the washer. You don’t HAVE to turn it inside-out but I feel like they are sleeping on the inside part and that’s the part I want the cleanest. PLUS, it protects the colors of the comforter more if it’s turned inside-out. We wash ours on the linen cycle in cold water and then tumble dry in the dryer. If you are washing any bigger than a twin-size, you will want to unzip completely and wash in 2 pieces.

How long does Beddy’s bedding last?

I have had my bedding since I first posted my Beddy’s review. It was about 4 years ago and we are just now starting to see some fading and wear. My kids have LOVED this bedding and we will probably order some new sets soon, not because they are totally worn out, but more because we are changing up bedroom styles.

Why are Beddy’s so expensive?

Beddy’s is specially designed and takes the place of an entire bedding set. The zippers are high quality so they zip smoothly. You really get what you pay for. The minky fabric is an expensive fabric to buy and it’s all sewn in nicely to the bedding. Before Beddy’s I went through kids bedding about every other year because their cheap comforters would get ripped off the bed and dragged on the floor. Beddy’s is durable and kids tend to keep it ON the bed so naturally it lasts longer. It’s may be a little more of an investment but it’s SO worth it. Once you see how easy it is (especially on bunk beds) you will wonder how you ever survived without it.

Is Beddy’s minky too hot?

I use the minky bedding in my kids’ rooms and they haven’t complained about it being too hot. We keep our house pretty cool at night though. We use the cotton lined bedding in the guest room with a minky blanket over the top. That way our guests can use the minky if they are too cold or sleep just with the cotton sheets if they are too hot. If you are worried about it. I would get a cotton set with the minky blanket separate. That’s the best all-around solution.

I don’t see the style above in your post, where can I find it?

Styles are constantly changing. Especially with home decor! We try to keep the photos in our post updated but some of the styles may not be available anymore. We suggest checking out their website and if you see a style you love GET IT! They often sell out of styles and transition to new ones so get the ones you love while they are still available. There are no guarantees they will be restocked.

Who owns Beddy’s?

Her name is Betsy (not Betty lol) and she is one of the nicest people I have ever met. After I first bought my Beddy’s set, I sent a message to the company to tell them how much I loved the bedding. Betsy personally wrote me back and was SO NICE. We wrote back and forth and she invited me down to check out the warehouse. We have been friends since. She has an infectiously positive personality and I adore her. If you follow her on Instagram (@betsymikesell) you will see what I am talking about!
