Easy Homemade Hummus
This is an easy, basic recipe for hummus. Everything blends up smoothly in the blender with very little clean-up. Once you have the basic recipe down, you can flavor the hummus according to your taste. I came up with the idea for this basil parmesan hummus because I found these yummy tomato basil pita chips at Costco and wanted a dip to go with them. It ended up being a great flavor to compliment the chips! Another thing that I loved about this was how festive it ended up looking with the red tinted chips and green color of the hummus. It would be a perfect appetizer for a party.
The 411 on Hummus
If you’re like a lot of people, you might be thinking, what is this dip I keep hearing people talk about? Is it healthy? Why should I give it a try. For starters, hummus is a dip or spread made from chickpeas or other beans. Typically it is blended with olive oil, lemon juice and garlic. The result is a healthy, textured, flavorful dip for veggies, breads, crackers and more. Try it on our Rosemary Parmesan Focaccia Bread or pita bread. You can make it in so many different flavors. For example, in this recipe, we try out basil parmesan, but there are so many varieties you can try. Roasted red pepper, black bean, sweet potato, avocado, even pumpkin.
