Unfortunately, our first two attempts were miserable failures (well, not completely, they made great punch). The problem with trying to freeze champagne, or sparkling wine, is that champagne is 13% alcohol, and alcohol doesn’t freeze, at least not at 32°F. Also, if your sorbet mixture isn’t chilled enough to begin with, it will warm up the freezer bowl of the ice cream maker and the bowl won’t be cold enough to freeze the mixture sufficiently....
Root vegetables have a lot of natural sugars in them that caramelize when roasted at a high enough temperature. They’re also packed with vitamins and beta carotene. So, starchy they may be, but they are also good for you too. (As if I need any encouragement, you can’t keep me away from them!) The one thing about those sweet vegetables, so perfect for caramelizing, is that they love a little acidity to sharpen their flavor....

Philly Cheesesteak Recipe These Philly Cheesesteak Sandwiches are the perfect dinner to make when you don’t have a lot of time but are craving something hearty, filling and flavorful. The tender roast beef soaks up flavorful juices and tastes delicious with thinly sliced peppers and onions. Add lots of buttery cheese, pop the whole thing on soft hoagie bread, warm it under the broiler and you have a satisfying, fulfilling sandwich that is warm and tasty....
A daiquiri is essentially a mixture of rum, sugar, and citrus – anything after that is just gilding the lily. A frozen strawberry daiquiri, however, is the ultimate refresher for summer days spent poolside or with your toes buried deep in the sand. Video: How to Make Strawberry Daiquiris Fresh or Frozen Strawberries? Many strawberry daiquiri recipes use fresh strawberries, but personally, I find that frozen strawberries help thicken the drink (like a smoothie!...
Here is a variation of that classic theme, but using aged Gruyere Swiss cheese on dark rye bread, with added sauerkraut. Yum! Related Video

What Is Fish Sauce? Believe it or not, fish sauce is as nuanced as wine—each brand or bottle can have its own characteristics, and some are better than others. Fish sauce is quite simply: fish and salt, more specifically anchovy. A general rule of thumb with cooking is that when something has few ingredients, quality counts for even more. With only two components in this sauce, the quality of both the fish and the salt is paramount....
The only reason that we don’t make it more often is because (let’s be honest here) it’s kind of a production to make. As in, an afternoon-consuming production that leaves my kitchen looking rather storm tossed by the end. Some weekends, I enjoy this production. Others, not so much. Enter my new favorite recipe: this Pressure Cooker Shepherd’s Pie from my pal and Simply Recipes contributor Coco Morante’s book The Ultimate Instant Pot Cookbook....
Oven Roasted Vegetables Oven Roasted Vegetables medley is a colorful complement to beef, chicken, pork, or fish. The inspiration for this recipe came from the Claim Jumper Restaurant. I ordered their roasted vegetables and loved them so much, I came up with my own version at home. All of my favorite vegetables are included in this dish. And the best part is, you can add or subtract vegetables to your taste....
These days, given that most of the revelers are now in their 80s, we keep the festivities to one house. It’s always a lot of fun, with plenty of stories both old and new, told or retold with great relish each year. As often the case with gatherings such as this, you are never quite sure how many people you will have showing up. It’s the holidays, which means that friends and relatives will cancel or appear at the last minute....
As I have an almost unreasonable love of homemade crusts, I make several batches of dough in advance, and just wrap them in plastic wrap and keep them in the freezer until needed. This is a simple peach galette, with fresh yellow peaches tossed with a little sugar, flour, and vanilla. You can play around with it a bit. Before laying down the peaches I dotted the bottom of the crust with a little almond paste....
The casserole has ground beef, onions, peppers, and mushrooms. It’s tossed with cream cheese and provolone, topped with crispy croutons, and baked until the filling is piping hot and melty. Personally, I think of this as a hearty weekend dinner that I can casually prepare in the afternoon and pop in the oven while I’m doing chores or playing games with the kids. What’s in a Philly Cheesesteak Casserole? The sandwich version just has steak and onions, but I decided to boost it a bit for this casserole....
So when my father decided that he wanted to make a pork crown roast for the benefit of any of our readers who actually might want to tackle it one day, I happily went along. Here’s the deal. What Is a Pork Crown Roast? A crown roast of pork is nothing more than a bunch of pork rib chops nicely formed into a circle and tied up by your butcher....

Raspberry Cordial I first heard of Raspberry Cordial when I read Anne of Green Gables. If you’ve never read it, I’ll give you a quick summary of the incident. Anne and her friend Diana are having a tea party and they are supposed to be drinking raspberry cordial. Instead, they mix it up with a bottle of currant wine. Anne’s adoptive mother comes home to find two very giggly, drunk young ladies....
These rolls are a fruit-filled twist on my favorite Bakery Style Cinnamon Rolls. I’ve used the same dough from those rolls but cut them into nine portions instead of eight to make a slightly smaller—but just as indulgent—treat. Like Cinnamon Rolls, but With a Jammy Filling! Instead of the usual buttery, cinnamon sugar filling, these are spread with sweet raspberry jam and bright pops of raspberry. When berries are in season, you can use fresh, but frozen are totally fine, too....
